Welcome to Silver Shutter!

A Photographer Standing on one of the Pyramids of Giza
In January 2018, my sister Constance and I ( Diana ) launched a Kickstarter campaign entitled The Past in Focus which focused on the restoration of 100 rare historic photos culled from archives from around the world. The campaign was a great success and this humble little blog was a baby offspring of the project.

Here on Silver Shutter, you can expect to see daily postings of historic photographs dating from 1850-1955 that have been digitally restored. They will be selected from libraries, museums, and other public archives from the far corners of the globe and, hopefully, will give you pleasure in viewing them. If you want to own a copy of any of the photos all you have to do is click on the links below the photo which will open up a Fotomoto cart where you can download the image or purchase a greeting card or print from it. Fotomoto is teamed up with Bay Photo, which is one of the largest and best photography labs in America. We have test printed some images with them and the results were beautiful so we have no doubt that you will be pleased with the results, too!

If you like history then tag along with Silver Shutter and enjoy a variety of snapshots from the past that highlight the culture, customs and lifestyles of our ancestors from all across the world. My sister and I are known as "Image Purveyors Extraordinaire" and you can be sure that we will be unearthing photographic treasures that you have never seen before!
